In 2016, NCBC officially became an ‘Eco-Congregation’.
We have a fantastic and dedicated group of people who have worked hard towards achieving Eco-Congregation status for NCBC. It was a three year process looking at the impact on our environment, both locally and globally. Eco-Church is an scheme run by A Rocha UK which encourages churches to consider their response to environmental issues. The scheme is designed to equip your church to express your care for God’s world in your worship and teaching; in how you look after your buildings and land; in how you engage with your local community and in global campaigns, and in the personal lifestyles of your congregation.
The Eco-team are involved in many aspects of church life, from campaigning for change to holding information evenings and encouraging others to get involved. Look out for the weekly eco-tip in the notices, always very helpful!
Projects undertaken at NCBC include a sermon series on Christian care for creation, prayer evenings and lobbying events on climate change, the setting up of an extensive recycling system, weekly eco tips in the notice sheets and a summer of eco-themed sessions in Quest.
